In this project, I developed a mobile app for students to manage stress, time, and sleep. I conducted user research, designed wireframes, and developed a prototype tailored specifically for their needs.
View PrototypeThe objectives of this project are to provide students with a comprehensive platform for stress management, sleep improvement, and time optimization. The app will offer personalized and customizable features that cater to the unique needs and preferences of each user. Additionally, to create a welcoming and inclusive community where students can connect, share experiences, and support each other on their wellness journey, and to empower students to take control of their well-being and prioritize self-care in their busy lives.
I conducted thorough research for my creative process, which included surveys and user interviews. The purpose was to gain insights into the stressors and challenges faced by the students. My goal was to understand their stress levels, sleep patterns, time management strategies, and preferences for relaxation techniques.
I ran a survey through Google Forms to gather quantitative data on students' stress levels, sleep habits, and usage of stress management tools. The survey provided valuable insights into the factors contributing to stress, as well as the effectiveness of various relaxation methods.
I performed in-depth interviews in addition to the survey to learn more about users' preferences, experiences, and problems with stress management and wellbeing. I gained deeper insights and more detailed information about the needs and objectives of consumers from these qualitative interviews.
The research findings revealed several important insights:
Academic workload, deadlines, and financial pressures are major stressors for students.
Many students struggle with sleep deprivation and a lack of effective time management skills.
Students often rely on a combination of strategies, including music, meditation, journaling, and exercise, to manage their stress.
Existing apps and tools for stress management and sleep improvement may be lacking in terms of usability, customization, and affordability.
Despite the availability of various stress management tools and techniques, many students still struggle to find effective solutions that meet their needs and fit into their busy lifestyles. Existing apps may be fragmented, complex to use, or unaffordable, leaving users feeling overwhelmed and unsupported in their wellness journey.
In the process of creating stress management and wellbeing solutions, I have come to understand that empathy and comprehension are essential. By putting myself in users' shoes, I can create solutions that truly resonate with their needs and emotions. I've found that while surveys provide valuable data, speaking directly with users adds depth to my understanding. It helps me see beyond the numbers and grasp the reasons behind users' behaviors. Moreover, simplicity, intuitiveness, and affordability are vital in app design. I've realized that users are more likely to engage with apps that are easy to use, intuitive to navigate, and accessible in terms of cost. However, complex or expensive solutions may discourage users from fully embracing them, so prioritizing simplicity and affordability is essential for maximizing user adoption and engagement.
